Posted on February 20, 2014 at 5:27 pm
As an individual, it can be quite difficult to distinguish yourself from the rest of the pack. Self promotion can be a very helpful tool in this, able to accomplish what working hard in your profession may not be able to do by itself. It has the potential to be able to help you find and get jobs which, perhaps, might have failed to notice you from among the rest of the pack. Showing that you are prepared to do the extra work to establish yourself as an expert will help you in virtually every professional setting. Basic self promotion involves using social interfaces, such as facebook and twitter in order establish your abilities, qualifications, and professional history. LinkedIn is the most useful social media website you can use in this regard. Doing self promotion provides you with another avenue for reaching potential employers. Having resources available outside of the norm, can give you a significant advantage over your competition, which predominately rely solely on referrals and CV’s.

Dressing for your Job Interview
Posted on January 24, 2014 at 7:21 pm
A job interview can be one of the most important and memorable events in an individual’s life, supposing it all goes to plan. When you are given a job interview, you’re essentially given a chance to show an employer what you’re capable of and it’s important to make a good first impression.
Dressing appropriately for an interview is always a must, and while every individual has their own tastes and styles, you should make sure these do not exceed the unwritten rules of job interview attire.
Both males and females can look smart and presentable wearing a shirt, while a full tie and suit can be a smart look for males. Job interview clothing will of course depend on the job, and if you know the interview you’re attending is formal, and the workplace is formal, a smart, ironed suit can be key to your success.
For females, wearing trousers or a skirt (not too short), a shirt and a cardigan can give a professional appearance, showing you’re ready for the responsibility.

Creative CV Websites to Get the Job you Crave
Posted on January 9, 2014 at 7:45 am
A CV doesn’t just have to be a text document printed on a plain white piece of paper or even PDF for that matter, you can be much more creative. Building a creative online CV (also known as an online resume) can be extremely beneficial, plus it means you’re not restricted to having your information placed on one single piece of papers.
Instead you can have a page for each aspect of your written CV. You can have a profile photo, a portfolio section, and a bio and employment history. Transforming a blog into an creative CV can be relatively simple, and because it only needs to be a brochure website, it means they can be cheap if you wanted one made yourself.
There are some design considerations however, because you must remember this is a creative CV and not a blog. It should be clean, professional, and comfortable on the eye. Remember, a job involves marketing yourself, and this can mean getting creative and thinking outside of the box.
