Job Interview – What to wear

Posted on September 6, 2021 at 3:07 pm

Even in this Post-Covid jobs market and the introduction of video job interviews, it is still an important event and one in which the employer wants to know what you can do, how you will represent the company and if you will fit in. It is important to make a good first impression.

Dressing appropriately for an interview is essential and although every individual has their style, you should make sure these do not exceed the unwritten rules of job interview attire.

It is expected that anyone attending an interview is smart and presentable.  Although suits are still seen as the recommended wear for males, a shirt with trousers or a skirt is also acceptable.

If you are attending a conference call interview, your surroundings also make a big impression, so make sure the background is not too cluttered and there is nothing offensive in view.

Current UK Job Market News

Posted on May 18, 2021 at 1:01 pm

For those who are seeking employment or new employment opportunities, there is some good news! As the UK eases out of the current lockdown, businesses are finding that they are experiencing a shortage in employees. The economy and job market has been showing positive signs of recovery with unemployment dropping slightly. In the three months, leading to March, the unemployment rate was at 4.9 per cent and has recently dropped to 4.8 per cent.

Many are hoping that this is a good sign that unemployment will continue to decrease as many businesses need more staff to compensate for more customers. Another positive and significant sign, is that UK job postings have increased to pre-pandemic levels. The vaccination roll-out and COVID numbers will still likely have an affect on restrictions in the UK but hope is on the horizon for many who have struggled, employment-wise, during the pandemic. Thankfully, more businesses are hiring again.
